Increasing awesomeness in the world by experimenting with new, community-driven ways to incubate, fund, and promote awesome individuals and their projects.

The Institute on Higher Awesome Studies (IHAS) is a fledgling nonprofit (501(c)3 status pending) that seeks to spread the Awesome Foundation model as far and wide as we can.
IHAS focuses on 4 main activities:
1. Incubating Awesome Foundations - Awesomeness is next to goodliness. IHAS funds and supports the creation of Awesome Foundations with a focus on public good, especially in areas receiving traditional aid and development funding.
2. Developing infrastructure - IHAS will use its resources to nice up the tools and processes used by all Awesome Foundations to improve everything from application flow to resource sharing.
3. Organizing events - To encourage brainstorming, innovation, and close bonds, IHAS will create events to bring together people already involved in Awesomeness and introduce and inspire newcomers to the concept.
4. Creative collaborations - IHAS will be an ambassador of Awesomeness to traditional foundations, organizations, corporate donors, curious individuals and other entities looking to try a method of philanthropy.
Who We Are
Christina Xu, Chancellor, sincerely believes that Awesomeness can save the world. By day, she is Chief Porcine Officer at the geek purveyor uncorporation Breadpig. She is the co-founder of the internet culture conference/convention ROFLCon and a proud trustee of Awesome Foundation Boston. In her free time, she dabbles in totally unrelated music and film projects.
Tim Hwang, Provost of Awesome Affairs, is the man behind the original Awesome Foundation idea and currently serves as a trustee in the San Francisco chapter. A serial starter of crazy awesome ventures, he is also the co-founder of ROFLCon and the Web Ecology Project. He is currently a junior partner at the law offices of Robot, Robot & Hwang and a Chief Scientist of the Pacific Social Architecting Corporation.
Alexis Ohanian, Treasurer, is one of the co-founders of a little internet community called Reddit. Maybe you’ve heard of it? When not flying to speaking gigs to fund his hummus addiction, he is head of marketing at Hipmunk. He is the founder of Breadpig as well as the angel investment firm Das Kapital Capital.
